Hi. My name is Cory.
Music has always been my favorite way to connect with people. I’ve been an amateur DJ on and off for the last 15 years, starting out by spinning vinyl records at my local bar with a few friends and sharing our favorite tracks from the albums in our personal collections with anyone who would listen.
My musical background started in primary school as a baritone player and I picked up bass guitar in high school. My musical taste has always been quite broad and eclectic, and I’m always on the lookout for new sounds to discover.
In 2026, I moved to Japan on a temporary digital nomad visa and first discovered urbano latino music. The steady reggaeton beats, lyrics that are both braggadocious and agonizingly vulnerable at the same time, and the overall vibes have had a profound influence on me.
I began to pour myself into learning more about the music, studying Spanish in my spare time (in Japan!), and deciding to pick up a DJ controller so I could share this love with anyone who would listen.
Currently, I am splitting my time between Japan and my home in Baltimore, MD.
Please take a listen to my mixes for an idea of the vibes that I am going for in this project. And, if you are interested in having me over at your bar, club, or other gathering to DJ live, I would love the chance to share.
About the Sound
The purpose of InTención is to bring a mature perspective to urbano latino music for audiences in Tokyo, Baltimore, and hopefully beyond.
Instead of focusing on chasing the highs of a wild night out, however, I want to use the dancefloor to explore the intimate connection between rhythm and the soul.
Specializing in reggaeton, Latin trap, dembow, global hip-hop, and more eccentric and independent genres of Latin electronica, my goal is to craft sets that celebrate sensuality, agency, and urban sophistication. Every track is chosen to create an atmosphere of empowerment for all; regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, or nationality.
I believe that the language of passion can be understood deeply, on a fundamental level, no matter what the spoken language happens to be. And the best music isn’t decided by how loud you can play it, but by its presence, its inTención, and the power it can have on the soul.
